Beautiful Sterling Silver 1856 Victorian Tankard Christening Cup. This is a stunning piece of Victorian Silver made in 1856 by London Manufacturer George Angell and hallmarked at the London assay office with the date letter "a" for the same year. The makers mark GA on this tankard was only used between 1850 and 1857.  This was a nice item when we obtained it with stunning engraving and we have sympathetically worked on it in our own workshop to bring it back to really nice condition although we have not touched the underside where the all important hallmark is struck as shown in one of the pictures. There are a few marks left commensurate with age round the bottom edge and the engraving cartouch can be used to engrave on. The tankard will be supplied in a satin lined presentation box.
